Although Tesco has now made a
formal planning application, the application is not yet public. We
expect this to happen shortly. However, we
obtained documents some time ago which Tesco gave to the Council. The leaflet for their consultation seems to
suggest that these plans stand (they are shown in the leaflet). Tesco
says this is a 44,000 square feet store.

The
store isn't needed. The council's own surveys show this
-
It is
good to see some local properties retained, but remember this means Tesco is
just taking less away, not giving the community anything.
-
Traffic
management is an issue; there is very little room between the two junctions
on London Road in which cars can queue without holding up through traffic;
also, lorries turning into the loading bays can't use the slip lanes and
will hold up traffic. Traffic lights are unlikely to help.
